Willamette Rotaract is a Rotary-based service club for professionals in their 20′s. Members from all over the Portland Metro area ranging in wide variety of vocations come together in spirit of service to better our members, our communities, and the world.
Join us this Friday for the Willamette Rotaract Holiday Party! There will be a potluck while we wrap the presents from shopping a few weeks ago, and a white elephant gift exchange (price limit $10). If you took home presents for the family's we adopted after shopping, please remember to bring them!
Thank you everyone for all the work at the wreath auction this past weekend! This week we have a district social on Friday night and another volunteer opportunity on Saturday morning.

Join us this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the SE Portland Rotary Wreath Auction! This event takes place over the entire weekend, so we have a lot of volunteer shifts to fill.
Friday, December 5th we'll be setting up for the auction. Saturday, December 6th we'll be helping during the auction--make sure to wear black pants/skirt and a white shirt. Sunday, December 7th we'll help take everything down.
Join us for a normal meeting this week with guest speaker Shane Sowards, founder of Squires Empowering Teen Dads.
Shane became a teen dad himself at age 15, and founded the organization to provide the resources he knew struggling teens needed. Squires Empowering Teen Dads is "dedicated to empowering, encouraging, and supporting teen dads to provide long term emotional, physical, and financial support for their child. Our goal is to change the culture of expecting fathers to run away from responsibility."
Join us this Sunday for one of our most popular volunteer events, dinner at Transition Projects. This local shelter is dedicated to serving people's needs as they transition from homelessness to housing, so come join us in serving a warm meal to those in need. We will be making chicken burrito bowls for dinner and chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
Join us this Saturday for a volunteer event supporting a speaker we heard from earlier this year! We will be helping at the A Village For One Second Annual Banquet & Auction. A Village For One works to create "A community uniting to uplift and support children impacted by commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking."

Founded in 1991, the Oregon Forest Resources Institute was created to "enhance collaboration among forest scientists, public agencies, community organizations, conservation groups, and forest landowners; to provide objective information about responsible forest management; and to encourage environmentally sound forest practices through training and other educational programs."

Join us this Saturday at the Portland Thorn's game for a 50/50 raffle volunteer event! We will be working with AC Portland to sell raffle tickets around the stadium and at kiosk booths starting 2.5 hours before the game starts, and lasting until the second half starts, so wear comfortable shoes! After the tickets are sold, volunteers are welcome to watch the rest of the game.

All 2014-2015 board members are required to attend, and any interested members are encouraged to join--if you haven't signed up yet, send an email and we'll get you registered! Althea graduated from Lincoln High School in 1997, graduated from Vermont Law School, and now primarily works on customer complaints against used car dealers.

Join us this Tuesday at our standard time and place for a normal meeting with speaker Sharon Lacey. Sharon was first a radio deejay, then a television news producer, and finally a middle school teacher before jumping onto the comedy stage. She has traveled in Uganda, Africa, performing in two tribal languages for Ugandan audiences. Sharon delivers food and supplies to school children and the elderly while performing in Uganda, and raises money for these donations through bracelets she sells at her comedy shows in the US.
At our meeting this week Sharon will have bracelets for sale. Bracelets cost $5 each, and 100% of the money goes directly to helping children and the elderly.
Join us this Saturday for TWO volunteer events! In the morning we will be helping SE Portland Rotary with their downtown Tigard cleanup, and then spending the evening with East Portland at their silent auction. For the SE Portland Tigard cleanup, we will be meeting at 9am at Symposium Coffee before heading out to cut weeds, trim trees, and clear brush. Remember to dress warm!
For the East Portland Rotary Kids are the Future/Party with a Purpose Auction, our Rotaract club will be helping guests check in, collecting bids, and helping people check out and carry baskets to their cars. The theme is Hawaiian, so bring your favorite Hawaiian shirt!

Aaron has been a serious musician since age 11, when he began performing with the American Boychoir in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, and Westminster Abby & Essex Cathedral in England. In addition to being an accomplished vocalist, Aaron Nigel Smith is an award winning recording artists and educator.
In 2009 Aaron and his wife of 15 years, Diedre, formed the non-profit One World Chorus with the goal of building bridges internationally through choral singing. There are currently over 500 children involved in the music outreach program in Portland, Los Angeles, New York, Kenya & Jamaica.
